John 1:9
“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”
In this passage of scripture, we recognize that John was not the light; the light is Jesus. John’s responsibility was to tell people about the light, which is Jesus, in the hope that they would believe in Him and follow Him. The true light, Jesus Christ, came to the world for you and me. He came to the world, died on the cross for our sins, and saved us! With the life that we have because of Him, are people seeing the light of Christ shining? Just as John did, we are to tell people about Jesus and light a path for them to follow. You’re not to be the light that shines, allow Him to shine through you.
Dear Jesus, Thank you for coming to the world and saving us. We live in a very dark world and there are people who are walking in darkness. Help us to shine your light and bear witness to the light that we are following.
