For hundreds of years the Jewish people labored under the Law, making every effort to obey it, yet no one ever succeeded. But then came the “Great Reveal”! In Titus 2:11 we learn that God sent His Son to offer us freedom from the Law in the person of Jesus Christ. What we could never earn by keeping the Law was now unveiled through Jesus. He fulfilled the Law in every respect and then uncovered God’s amazing grace!
I Corinthians 2:7 shares that the wisdom of God’s glorious gospel plan was hidden from the rulers of this age, because if they had understood its full implications, they’d never have crucified the Lord of Glory. But thankfully this disclosing wasn’t only for the Jews; it made salvation possible for all mankind. No one was left out in God’s revelation of loving grace!
So what should our response be? Verse 12 gives us a clue; we respond to God’s revealed grace by rejecting ungodliness and worldly desires and choosing to live righteously in this present age. Of course we can’t do this on our own; we must rely on God’s divulged righteousness in Jesus!
And this revelation impacts not only our past, present and future sins, it also speaks of life eternal which has already begun for those who have received Christ’s salvation. This will be fully unveiled in and through us at the appearing of Jesus on the last day!
May we live our lives in response to God’s great reveal!
