Ordinary Days

Just an ordinary day for Jesus right? In this passage we see Jesus (as we often do in the Bible) sitting among the people teaching. Not just believers but Pharisees and other teachers of the law. There’s no hint that in the passages to follow a miracle is going to take place – although one does. Jesus heals the paralyzed man. But what did Jesus do BEFORE the healing? Did He pray? Did He cry out to His Father for help? No. He does it simply, almost quietly. Why? Because Jesus knew that the power of the Holy Spirit was with Him.
As we travel through our ordinary days, the same Holy Spirit that was with Jesus is with each of us. We don’t need to ask each day to be filled, we already are. God provided the Holy Spirit so that while we are in this world we are not alone. We have the ability to stand firm in our faith no matter the circumstances we face or the company we keep. And whether our days be ordinary or miracle-filled, hopefully, by our words and actions, we draw others to the Giver of Life – Jesus.
