“Out of His fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.”
John 1:16
John has told us who Jesus is, now he tells us what He does. The word “fullness” simply means to be completely filled. Jesus is filled with all that is God. It is of His fullness that we can now receive. Because of Jesus, we can all receive grace upon grace. We receive a continual outpouring of His grace. The closer that we get to Christ, the more we will find that we are in desperate need of His grace. We also find that God has more grace than what our failures require.
As recipients of this amazing grace we continually receive, we should also be willing to give the gift of grace to others. Let us thank God for the grace that He gives to each of us and that He doesn’t give us what we deserve.
