Life in 6 Words: G.O.S.P.E.L.  God. Our. Sins. Paying. Everyone.

Sins – cannot be removed by good deeds

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”

I am confident that most reading today have memorized this scripture at some point in your personal walk with God. But let me ask you – ever wonder what you’re being saved from? I’ll give you a hint – it started in a garden.

I consider myself to be a decent person. Each day I try my best to follow God’s Word, “Do Unto Others”, and in general, be nice. But no matter how nice or decent I may be – there’s no way I (or you) can save ourselves from sin. We are clothed in “stinking sin”. Let me be clear – there is no work, deed or action that can save us or make us worthy to obtain our salvation.

Because the amazing truth is, salvation is a gift from God offered to everyone. A gift we simply have to choose to accept. We cannot create a wellspring of life within ourselves by any action. Rather our eternal worth comes from belief in Jesus. So that when we are asked, we can magnify our glorious God who offers the same gift to all.
