“True spirituality frees us to live joyfully in the present. It requires, however, going back in order to go forward. This takes us to the very heart of spirituality and discipleship in the family of God- breaking free from the destructive sinful patterns of our pasts to live the life of love God intends” (Pg.93).
Christ wants to “free” us from all the patterns and effects of sin of our past. Christ knows that if we are still tied to our past we could never reach forward to the great plans God has for us. What hurt, sin, offense, thing, or person is keeping up stuck in the past?
Colossians 3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
