“David was afraid of the Lord that day & said, ‘How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?’ He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead …”     (2 Samuel 6:9-10a)

Faith instead of fear

Encounters with God or answers to prayers often leave us wondering, “Does God know what He’s doing? Is He even listening?” Enveloped in pain & pressures of life, a call from the doctor or overdue bill, hurtful words from a friend or devastating revelation & in an instant, our focus shifts … our faith is shaken. Instead of hunkering down with God in the storm, we reach out, taking control & respond in fear. Costly? Yes – for Uzzah it cost him his life.

Faith-walking isn’t for sissies. Abandonment of the “I can make it work” mindset … surrendering ourselves, without reservation, to God’s control. Each decision an opportunity to develop faith instead of fear. Think it’s easy? Not at first. The longer we walk with God, the closer we become to Him, the more we trust Him – the easier choosing faith instead of fear becomes. Why does it appear at times God waits? Because we are hard-headed! He knows we have to come to the end of ourselves, realizing the limits to our wisdom before He steps in & does the impossible!

Will you trust God’s character & His control enough to place your life, your family, your finances, your dreams, & your future … into His capable hands today?
