Life In Six Words-G.O.S.P.E.L. God. Our. Sins. Paying. Everyone. Life.

Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever.

“…If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.”  I John 2:24-25

Ever have someone promise something and then not deliver? I think we all have. There is little more painful in life than a broken promise.

The dictionary defines promise as “a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing.” But a promise is only as good as the person promising. In other words the strength of a promise is determined by the integrity of the pledger. You don’t want to sit across the table from a known liar because everything he says is suspect. But this passage declares that God Himself has promised His children eternal life and since God’s commitments are guaranteed by His unchangeable integrity they are as good as done.

Edmund Burke said “Hypocrisy can afford to be magnificent in its promises, for never intending to go beyond promise, it costs nothing.” Talk is cheap, but our Father’s promises are magnificently sure and every vow will stand the test not of time, but of eternity.

The promise of eternal life is unveiled from within us today and it will never end! Imagine it with me! Our everlasting life begins now like a seedling that will grow until the temporal parts of who we are succumb to the life eternal that He has planted deep within us and it will be perpetually fresh and we will spend eternity experiencing and exploring it.

Let us give thanks today to our Father who holds eternity in His hand and bestows it on His children.
