JESUS IS FOR . . . THE OLDER GENERATION

“There was a priest named Zechariah . . . his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were upright in the sight of God . . . But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren; and they were both well along in years.”  (Lk 1:5-7)

The Christmas story reminds us that old age doesn’t mean God can’t do something new and amazing through us.  Zechariah reminds us that the older generation is always key in what God wants to do next in changing the world!  We need to believe God to do greater things through our oldest generation and not judge them by the world’s standards.  God pours out His richest work through the faithfulness of saints who have trusted and worshiped Him over the years.  Most of us miss how mightily God is using them.  Remember this very example of Jesus when He said of the elderly widow, “I tell you the truth, this widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.  Others gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything.” (Mk 12:43-44)

May all the generations together declare His glory this Christmas!
