John 1:4

The ‘him’ in this verse is referring to Jesus. The ‘light of men’ refers to the fullness of life God intends for believers (men and women) to demonstrate in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Consider the implications of God’s gift of grace through the following everyday examples of public servants. What do police officers, fire fighters, doctors, and nurses all have in common? Each one has been trained to work in the heat and tension of stressful moments. Nurses assist the sick child. Doctors heal the sick. Firefighters rescue people from burning buildings. Police officers serve as community watchmen. God uses public servants to save the lives of everyday people. Public servants must also have faith in the skills they’ve learned to overcome the fear they will encounter in stressful moments.

Do you have faith in the fullness of Christ’s ‘life’? The ‘life’ that comes through the power of the Holy Spirit? Jesus gives grace to believers who learn to overcome everyday fears with even greater everyday faith in Christ. Then, you will discover what it means to truly live ‘life’…FAITH living greater than FEAR. A life that fully depends on Jesus. A life that always rescues people out of the darkness. A life that always hopes, always loves, and always perseveres. God’s gift of grace becomes persevering faith that is greater than the fear that tries to persevere in us.

What bold gift of grace do you need to share with someone else today? Be the ‘light of men’ to someone close to you today.
