JESUS IS FOR . . . THOSE WHO FEEL EMPTY INSIDE

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.  (Lk 1:34-36)

Mary was empty when God chose to use her.  She didn’t have a clear purpose for her life nor did she have the power to fulfill the angel’s prophecy about her.  The Holy Spirit made it possible for Mary to be filled with the life of Jesus and also strengthened her to endure the questions and condemnation of others.  Today, the Holy Spirit is still the one that fills you and me with the life of Jesus and keeps us going when we face obstacles and opposition. Jesus taught that the Holy Spirit would fill each of us so that we would never be empty, powerless and alone again.

“Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”  By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.” (Jn 7:37-39)
