And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ Mark 14:27

Whenever I’ve read the story of Christ’s crucifixion and the disciples betrayal, I’ve always been troubled by the disciples’ betrayal of Jesus. ‘How could they betray the Son of God?!’ I thought to myself. However, the Lord has challenged me with the following: Whether Christian or not, we’ve all been guilty of betraying Christ…over and over again.

Jesus was no ordinary person; he was both fully God and man, the only perfect person ever to live on earth. Your sins demanded a just payment, one that could only be paid by Jesus…

Read Mark 14, and come up with an action step for today. Here’s three suggestions:

  1. Journey to the Cross- Cornerstone is holding Journey to the Cross on Thursday and Friday evening. This is a great opportunity to remember the price Christ paid for your sins for you and your family (ages 5+).
  1. The chains of Barabbas- Is there a sin that you habitually keep committing, or a hurt that keeps weighing on you that you feel towards another person? God’s plan was to release Barabbas from the cross, it is God’s plan to release you from your spiritual chains.
  1. The grace of Christ- Perhaps you know someone who has experienced church hurt or wounds from fellow Christians (intentionally or unintentionally). Show grace to him/her through a loving, practical touch. Be the hands and feet of Christ.
