Verse 43: Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty, put in everything – all that she had to live on.”
In this passage, we recognize that God isn’t impressed by the “spectacular” or “showy” things that we do. It’s not those things that grabs His attention – It’s our heart. God is concerned with our heart and why we do the things that we do. Do we give because it will make us look good? Do we help others because we know that one day we may need help ourselves? Or, do we recognize that God loves us so much and out of that abundance of His love, we can’t help but to pour that same love to others. If He were to examine our hearts today, what would He find? Would He be pleased with our motives?
