“Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” Luke 9:23-24
As true followers of Christ we must consider the price. Are we willing to pay the price and go the distance? Dying to our flesh and the acceptance of obedience to His purpose and plan for our lives is by far one of the greatest challenges to overcome. However, it is a necessity; we must pick up our cross and follow Him. This isn’t a one-time occurrence. We must choose to die to ourselves every day! By dying to ourselves, we die to our self-will, strength, and our own ability and choose to rely completely on Him. Satan is the enemy of our souls. His main purpose is to kill, steal and to destroy. Every day Satan wants to distract us from the Cross, the object of our faith.
Out of all the great things that our friends and family may do or have done for us, nothing can compare to what Jesus did on the Cross. How much do you value the Cross and what Jesus did for you there? We can’t live our lives outside of Christ, for we when do we lose life. When we choose to die to ourselves, take up our cross and follow him, we gain abundant life.
