Growing Strength –

Luke 1:80 “And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the desert until he appeared publicly to Israel.”

I don’t know about you – but I don’t know anyone who relishes the thought of time in the desert, alone. I certainly don’t. My “fail-safe” in times of desperation is often bending the ear of any friend who will listen. Sadly I miss the sacred time God is wanting to spend with me.

As today’s verse illustrates, strength in the spirit grows in moments of solitude. Moments where our focus becomes defined and allows God to deepen our personal understanding of His Word and the plan He has for our lives. Many times, we miss these moments in the rush to “get to the other side”. But often, God is strengthening us for a new journey or direction. It may be one very personal or like John – He is strengthening us to prepare the way for the King.

Maybe you are in that desert place today. Don’t miss the opportunity God has granted. Study His Word. Ask Him for a new revelation, for strength to forge ahead. Bask in His Presence and allow His Word to strengthen your spirit. This is a sacred moment – divinely appointed – don’t miss it!
