“Then Hannah prayed and said: ‘My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in Your deliverance. There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides You; there is no Rock like our God.’” (1 Sam. 2:1-2 NIV)
Hannah prayed. I’m certain it wasn’t the first time Hannah prayed asking God to bless her with a child. However this time, she chose to give her child back to God. Remember: Hannah was giving God something she didn’t even have yet. Talk about faith! God proved faithful and Hannah dedicated Samuel back to God, offering a praise prayer and let go. Her response to God’s answer in chapter 2 is key for us today. Faithful prayer. I don’t know what you’re facing today. Rest assure I understand praying for years that God will move in circumstances while feeling He is silent. Keep praying! Our God – the I AM – is always in control … even when things aren’t going our way or prayers appear to go unanswered. God is refining our faith during these times. Though Hannah had to let go of what she longed for (a child), she worshipped God knowing He is her delight, her Rock. When God answers your long-awaited prayer, will you choose to respond as Hannah … though it may cost you the very request of your heart?
