Known

“Earlier, before you knew God personally, you were enslaved to so-called gods that had nothing of the divine about them. But now that you know the real God – or rather since God knows you – how can you possibly subject yourselves again to those paper tigers?” (V. 8-9 the Message)

“Paper tigers”… different gods – the god of fear & doubt, the god of control, the god of loneliness, the god of comparison, and so on. Like the Galatians in chapter 4, even after we know who God is, at times we lose our way and become enslaved again. So who are you?

  • God’s reflection created in His own image (Genesis 1:27)
  • God’s chosen (Ephesians 1:4)

The stay at home Mom, the executive, the cashier, and the teacher….YOU are His! Why is this important? Because this fast-paced, high tech world we live in can overwhelm our senses leading to confusion. And we are called to be witnesses for God, pointing the lost to the hope we have found in Jesus. People don’t just encounter God within four walls of a church. They encounter Him every day when we “share life” walking side by side with them keeping Jesus at the center. Don’t worry about getting is right – God’s grace makes up the difference. “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9a)
