“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
You can’t dislike or be indifferent to Jesus’ body, the local church, and have Jesus as first and center in your heart. You also can’t accomplish God’s will without His people. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said that the church is the one thing that the gates of hell can’t overcome! You need a healthy church to live in the impossible promises of God!
Most people see so many weaknesses in the local church that they write it off, yet the local church is the hope of the entire world because its Jesus’ body! Instead of giving up on church and isolating from it, embrace it to help you learn to love and become less self-centered.
Our sinful nature always wants to isolate. So, our natural inclination is to either reject the church or make it something centered on ourselves. Satan and our sinful nature want anything but for us to be part of a church that centers on Jesus and calls us to die to ourselves.
