Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all you heart, as working for the Lord…”

Life is tough. It’s filled with seasons of plowing, planting, waiting for growth, and harvest. During each

one we are faced with decisions to be made that affect our future. Sounds like a lot of work so we better

make sure we are going about it in the right way! The scripture above tells us WHATEVER we do, we

should be working at it in two specific ways.

1)     With all our heart: In order to do this our heart needs to be centered on the right thing – Jesus. How do we get Jesus at the center? Prayer – honest, “I’m holding nothing back, the good, the bad, the ugly” – Prayer. This helps Jesus not only become the center but invites Him to become greater in our lives as we become less.

2)     For the Lord: Read the scripture again. Notice the word “Whatever”. Know what that means? Let me put it this way – everything we do! Whether it’s work, going to school, doing laundry or making dinner – we should be working for the Lord.

No matter the season, continual communion with our Creator through prayer strengthens our mind and spirit. As you come before the Lord today in prayer, ask for a revelation of your heart’s motive. Let us strive to become a people who keep Jesus at the center in all that we do.
