Scripture captures the moment when God enables believers to be filled with the everyday promise of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Read Acts 1:4-5. Jesus told the believers in Jerusalem to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit. After days of praying together in unison, the Holy Spirit came down and enabled the believers to speak in other tongues (2:4). The Galilean believers spoke in languages found all over the world, and onlookers were astonished by the mighty demonstration of God’s divine power. We see the Holy Spirit also baptize believers in Acts 8, 9, 10, and 19.

Meditate on Ephesians 5:18. Scripture teaches us to be continually filled with the baptism in the Holy Spirit for everyday life. Today, wait on the Lord and invite His presence to fill you. Where you wait on the Lord matters, so be prepared to go to a quiet place in your home, outside, or even inside your car. Then, if you’ve never received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, earnestly pray for God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit. You may be filled with the Holy Spirit baptism right away, or it may come at a later date, but know that God hears your petition. If you’ve already been baptized in the Holy Spirit, earnestly pray for God to fill you with a greater sense of His Holy Spirit in your everyday life at home, school, work, and wherever you visit throughout the day.
