“We live by faith, not by sight.”
(2 Corinthians 5:7)
Left to ourselves, we only believe and trust in what we can see, but the Bible tells us to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). If you only have peace and joy when your circumstances look like what you want, you will be a very unhappy and unstable person. Life is not about what you see in your circumstances, but what God promises in His Word.
If you want to follow God to impossible promises and joy, you cannot make outward appearances more important than the invisible promises of God. Just ask David in front of Goliath, Moses in front of the Red Sea, or the disciple John in front of Jesus hanging on a cross. In life-changing events and in everyday decisions, a follower of Jesus must choose God’s unseen promises over visible circumstances.
This morning, I don’t know what you are seeing around you, and in you, but God has impossible dreams for you that start with possible steps of obedience. You can start by focusing less on your circumstances and more on His promises, His power, and His people. Today, choose faith over sight!
