JESUS IS FOR . . . IMPERFECT FAMILIES
“Before Mary and Joseph came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife.” (Mt 1:18-20)
The Christmas story reminds us that God is for imperfect families who work through life’s ups and downs. Joseph and Mary had a very rocky start as a family that was filled with disappointment, mistrust and conflict. Yet, God sent His messengers and His promises to them so they would stay together and discover God’s great purpose for their family.
Jesus is for imperfect families that need God’s perfect and unfailing grace in their lives. Jesus taught what that looks like when He said, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you.” (Lk 6:37-38)
Trust God & accept great grace for your family this Christmas.
