When was the last time you experienced God’s glory in your life?
At 6:30 pm last night I was reading through the sermon notes and trying to come up with the first paragraph for this devotion. I finally decided to ask myself the following question, “Do you recall the last time you saw a beautiful rainbow after a hard rainfall”? At 6:55 pm, I came downstairs to start typing this post and what would you know; there was a hard rainfall outside and the sun was shining. I couldn’t see a rainbow from my windows, but I imagined there was a great one out there somewhere. It took me a moment to put the two pieces together, but I knew as I looked out the window that I had just experienced God’s Glory.
This brings up a good point that was discussed in the sermon yesterday. In order for God’s glory to show up, we must glorify Him. In other words, we must put ourselves in the position to experience God’s glory. This is where you must take an honest look at your life and decide if you are living it for Him or if you are living it yourself? It will be hard to experience the glory of God when your main concern is about the glory of yourself. In Isaiah 43:7, we are reminded that God is the one who made us, who called us by name and it is He who created us for His glory. Strive to give ALL the glory to God!
When will you experience God’s glory? Like the story mentioned in the first paragraph, His glory could shine at any moment in our lives, but we have to be prepared to receive it. It may come at a wonderful time or it could come at a stressful time, and we must learn to still give God all the glory. It may sound easy, but it is in these times that our true faith is tested. What does God’s glory teach us? His glory reminds us that we are loved, cared for, that we can live without fear, we can trust Him and we have a purpose. At Cornerstone, we are keeping Jesus at the center of everyday life and that is giving God the glory. Are you ready to give God the glory each day?
In all situations, from this day forward, give God all the Glory!
