1 Timothy 2:1 & 8 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made
for all people…Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands
without anger or disputing.”
I often wonder how God ever gets anything accomplished though people. Let’s face it – we all have our
own agendas and goals. We believe that our plan is the best and try to figure out how to win people over
to our side. Sounds depressing when you stop and think about it. What do you think would happen if we
put the scripture above into action?
Notice that we cannot pray and intercede alone. It must be accompanied by thanksgiving. Thanksgiving
reminds us of answers to prayers which demonstrates to us God’s faithfulness. When we understand that
God never changes – He’s faithful today and will be faithful tomorrow – we can pray with confidence.
Even though God may not answer exactly the way we want, He’s still faithful.
Often times God is silent. It appears prayers go unanswered. Should we stop praying? Walk away from
God? Be angry or cause a ruckus? You could do all those things. But none will move you closer to the
throne room – none will ease your fears. Only God can move the hearts of men. Prayer is an essential
part of your daily life to grow. Without prayer, we cannot hear God clearly. Spend some time with Him
today.
