The Bible is full of God’s promises and commands, and I had read this verse many times (Joshua 1:8), but it did not impact or changed my life until I read it and accepted as a command from God.
Accepting it as a command from God pushed me to be consistent on studying and meditating on the Word on a daily basis. It changed my life tremendously. Before being consistent, I was always rushing in the morning and in a bad mood. I usually put my daughter on the bus before heading out to work. And my main focus was on how much time she spends in the shower wasting water and how long it took her to get ready and come downstairs. It was not only affecting me, but it was also affecting her. That was when this verse spoke to me and I put it into practice.
Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
I remember one morning in specific (February 14th, Valentine’s day) when my daughter came downstairs (tardy as usual, but it was no longer my main focus). She was ready to go to school and I had just finished reading and meditating on Romans 8:38-39. I remember my daughter sitting down next to me and asking me “does Gods love us even when we do bad things?” I smiled as I remembered the verse I was just reading. I read the verses to her and explained them. We had a great fellowship that morning and have every morning since then. She still remembers that day and reminds me of Romans 8:38-39 from time to time.
For me, this is success and prosperity. Meditating on God’s Word caused me to be a better Christ-like believer, a better husband, and a better father.
