Matthew 14:22-36
Hello Cornerstone Family, I hope and pray that all are as well as can be in these challenging times and that you and your family are staying healthy. My devotional today is focused on Jesus and his disciples and the familiar Bible passage of Jesus walking on water and being with His disciples during a storm.
All of us are facing the challenge of fear and anxiety in these extremely challenging times. In the book of Matthew, the disciples were facing the fear of the high winds and waves caused by a storm and the anxiety of the boat not being able to reach the other side or even overturning and the real possibility of drowning. When Jesus appeared he said “Take Courage, it is I, don’t be afraid. Jesus is always with us, we are never alone, even in the storms of life. The disciples were encouraged just to see Jesus and their fear subsided. Once Jesus got into their boat the wind, waves, and storm died down. Who is in your boat today? We don’t want fear and anxiety in our boat, we want our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ The disciples worshiped him and said: “Truly you are the Son of God”. The son of God will calm any storm and get us to the other side. In our current situation, I encourage you to have Jesus in your boat and you will get to the other side of the challenging times we all face today.
Dear Lord, we give you all the praise, honor, and glory today. We worship you and exalt you. We thank you for the many blessings that you have you poured out like a waterfall on us. We ask that you provide a hedge of protection around all of our Cornerstone family, our community, and our country.
Thank you for your love and faithfulness.
Amen.
