“Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that He and

His disciples were not even able to eat.” ~ Mark 3:20

Imagine you have been serving people all day. Finally you are welcomed into a home for a meal but people won’t even leave you in peace to eat. This is exactly what happened to Jesus.

Until today, popular was not an adjective I’d ever ascribed to Jesus. However, four times in Mark 3 (v. 7, 9, 20 & 32) a crowd is referenced. Not just any size crowd, but tens of thousands of people. Everyone who had heard about this prophet wanted to see and hear for themselves – wanted to be healed.

For anyone else, the temptation to believe you were a “star” would be overwhelming. But Jesus knew His path and trusted in the Father’s timing to reveal His Son to a lost world. Even in the midst of the commotion, “Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the lake,” (Mark 3:7). He allowed time to be in communion with the Father and community with the disciples.

How do we know if we’re headed in the right direction or even on the right path? Communion with God. That intimate fellowship with our Creator to help align our spirit with our divine purpose.

Lord, help us not to be swayed by what’s popular, but by the Truth of Your Word. Amen
