Those with Physical Illness
A great way to view the truth of v. 18 is to look at John 1:17…’grace and truth came through Jesus Christ’. Without Jesus, we cannot know the fullness of who God is or discover the grace that we have in Christ. ‘He has made him known’ as ‘the One and Only’ eternal God. His grace is not limited by impossible circumstances, difficult relationships, or people’s bad choices. Jesus truly is the way, the truth, and the life.
Today’s focus is giving grace to someone who is facing a health issue. God’s gift of grace always includes provision for healing…spiritually, physically, relationally, emotionally, etc. The healing we have in Christ, however, may not be fully realized until we go spend eternity with the father. Those who are sick, struggling with physical limitations, recovering from surgery, or facing end of life circumstances need to be reminded of the fullness of life and healing we have through Jesus.
Today, choose to contact someone you know struggling with their personal health. They could be in the hospital, stuck at home, living in the nursing home, at hospice, etc. Try to visit them personally if possible. Be prepared to share a scripture and speak with faith. Most importantly, close with prayer to invite the Holy Spirit to bring healing in the midst of difficult circumstances. People may not care what you know, but your friend or family member will know that you cared enough to give a gift of grace.
