Titus 2:11-14
When we think of God’s grace, we can’t fathom how God could give us something that we don’t deserve. It becomes hard for us to grasp because we live in a world where we receive rewards for good behavior. When we receive God’s grace, we don’t have to do anything to earn it, we don’t deserve it, He just gives us His grace because He loves us; it is a free gift. God’s grace is unmerited favor. It means that He showers blessings and favor on us when we deserve judgment and wrath. No one is out of reach of God’s grace.
The grace of God is available to all on the basis of faith in Christ and what He did on the cross for us. The Father allowed His Son to die for the sins of the whole world. This was an act of great grace. This passage of scriptures tells us how the grace of God should work in our lives and that the appropriate response to such an act is “to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly.” In order for us to do this, we must make the Cross the object of our faith and allow the power of the Holy Spirit in and through us.
