The Radiant Face of Christ
Moses heads back up Mount Sinai to meet with the Lord and as a result, his face becomes brightly radiant with the Lord’s presence. Moses broke the original, 10 Commandment tablets when he discovered Aaron had crafted a golden calf for the Israelites to worship in his absence (Exodus 32:19). Verses 6-7 reveal the true character of God found throughout all Scripture.
Compassionate and Gracious- Some translations use ‘merciful’ instead of compassionate. Either way, the Lord longs to restore relationship with us.
Slow to Anger- the Lord sees our perpetuity to sin, yet he never gives up on us. He is also wooing us back to Him.
Abounding in Love & Faithfulness- His love knows no limits. He is patient, forgiving, and gracious in all circumstances.
Forgiving Wickedness, Rebellion and Sin- No transgression is too much for God to forgive.
Does Not Leave the Guilty Unpunished- He is a just God who punishes the sins of those who refuse to be faithful to Him.
Just like Moses, ‘Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame’ (Psalm 34:5). Our God is a Jealous God (vs. 14) who desires full devotion from His followers.
Do you know the radiant face of Christ? We can fully discover the character of God through the revelation of Jesus Christ (John 14:9). Ask God to fill you with His character so that you may know God’s merciful and gracious heart. You were made to know the radiant face of Christ.
