In Exodus 26, we read of the detailed plans for what the Tabernacle was instructed to look like. As you read all the precise plans, it reminds you of what a sacred place the Tabernacle was. The Tabernacle was not just a place that looked fancy, but a place where the presence of God dwelled. It was a portable tent where God’s presence inhabited as the Israelites traveled from Egypt to the land of Canaan.
We, who are in Christ, are extremely blessed today! Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection afforded us so many wonderful gifts, one such gift is the gift of the Holy Spirit. We no longer have to go to a tent to be in the presence of God, we can invite Him to come and meet us wherever we may be. Oftentimes we forget that the presence of God can be with us outside of the church doors. His presence, that same presence that dwelled in the Tabernacle, can be with us today in our churches, on our jobs, in our hospital rooms, in our homes etc. Let’s invite Him in. Today take a moment to thank Him not only for what He did on the cross, but also for the gift of the Holy Spirit that resides within us.
