A covenant requires at least two parties and each must enter into it willingly. God set forth the terms of the covenant relationship to Israel and they agreed to them. But the terms are really about the relationship process. Successful relationships cost each party something and through Moses’ life we see a small part of that in Exodus 24.
Moses heeded God’s call.
Moses accepted God’s invitation to draw near.
Moses listened for God’s voice.
Moses spoke about it to others.
Moses wrote it down.
Moses read the terms out loud.
Moses obeyed.
Today, following Moses’ example, some action steps to deepen your relationship with God might include:
Heed God’s call on your lives. (Today, God is calling, but you must choose to answer)
Accept His invitation to draw near. (Believe He desires intimate relationship)
Listen for His voice. (Carve out time to hear from Him)
Speak of Him to others. (Share your faith)
Write down scriptures. (Consider journaling)
Read God’s Word out loud. (Read the Bible to your children)
Obey. (We don’t understand everything the Bible tells us, but obeying ALL that we do understand will bring transformation.)
God did the hard part of building a covenant relationship, but Moses was willing to do what he could too. Moses:
Went.
Told.
Wrote.
Got up.
Built.
Sent others.
Splashed.
Sprinkled.
Read.
Set out.
Went up.
Waited.
Entered.
Stayed.
Today, ask God what steps you can take to grow your relationship with Him. Then just say yes and watch what He will do!
