I love that in Exodus 12 God shares His plan of freedom for His people while they were still held captive in Egypt. In the very midst of their bondage, God was preparing their exodus from slavery!
Imagine for a moment that as they were abusively treated that their freedom was just ahead. We read their story and know that their captivity was ending, but none of them knew that. Every day they labored in despair when the day of their release had already been determined!
They mistook a delay as God’s denial. They probably believed that God had rejected them and selected a more deserving nation as His own-but God was bound to them by covenant and wouldn’t leave.
Do you ever feel like the delays that you’re experiencing might actually be God’s denial? Ever wonder if you’ve failed just one too many times for Him to hear your prayers, let alone draw close to you? The people of Israel probably felt that way too-but God had a plan for their freedom and relationship-even though they’d lost all hope of release.
Today, as you labor and strive, maybe feeling far from divine help and favor; know that Your Father has bound Himself to you by an eternal covenant bought with the blood not of A Passover lamb but from THE Passover Lamb; Jesus. You are forever His by covenant so He’ll never leave you and the way and day of your release may be just around the corner too!
