“At the heart of the Daily Office and the Sabbath is stopping to surrender to God in trust.”
(pg. 156)
How many of us have overcrowded schedules? Go ahead – raise your hand, we all do. Our lives are measured by successes or failures created with our hands while neglecting the living God. The One who breathes life into our spirits pursuing us with unrelenting passion. I don’t think you’ll ever hear God say, “I could’ve loved you more if you would have done _________.” Here’s my point: no activity refreshes your spirit as wholly as spending time in the Presence of God. Sabbath rest is part of our DNA. It determines choices we make in life. It structures our thoughts. It demonstrates our level of trust in God. Below are keys to help unlock resting in His Presence:
- Stopping: Be with the living God
- Centering: Move into His Presence & rest
- Silence: Quiet every inner & outer voice to be attentive to God
- Scripture: Our guide to navigate through life
Before you do anything else, spend some time in the presence of God.
