Bob Harrison was a pioneer in the Assemblies of God and a gospel singer. Bob Harrison loved missions. He traveled with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and worked in special evangelistic crusades in Africa, conducted gospel crusades in Europe, Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, and the United States because he was denied by the Assembly of God. Bob Harrison was known for paving the way for African Americans to become credentialed ministers with the Assemblies of God. His years of ministry and broad influence through music, evangelism, and serving on committees to advance outreach, has helped to change the world for Christ. He was ordained with the Assembly of God in 1962 and approved for service under the missionary appointment by the AG Foreign Missions Department (now AG World Missions) in 1964. As an AG Missionary, Bob Harrison worked with the Assemblies of God and held crusades in Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines to name a few.
Jesus never said that the journey would be easy. For Bob Harrison, it was not easy. His footsteps took him many places and he experienced discouragements and what seemed like delays along the way. Although he faced many challenges, he was a man that was committed to Christ and was devoted to missions and ministry; he was determined to persevere. We must remember Hebrews12:1-2, “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Don’t allow the challenges to get in the way of what God wants you to do. Choose to persevere no matter the challenges you may face along the way!
