“but his delight is in the law[a] of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.  In all that he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:2-3

It is one thing to know the Word of God, but quite another thing to keep God’s Word.

What’s the difference?  Faith is believing in what God’s Word says, HIS promises, commandments and God’s redemptive story.  Active faith!

Psalm 1: 2,3 On His law he meditates…he is like a tree…that yields fruit

Luke 11:28 Blessed are they that hear the Word of God and keep it

Those who experience the benefits of keeping HIS Word:

  1. See life from God’s PERSPECTIVE. Life is full of high/lows, successes/failures, and seasons of sowing/reaping. God’s perspective teaches us to delight in the law of the Lord no matter what circumstances we face.  The perspective of eternal life is greater than the perspective of the current circumstances we face.

  1. Overcome the PROBLEM of sinful patterns. The law of the Lord instructs us to see right from wrong. As we continually meditate on God’s Word, we discover a new pattern in keeping God’s Word and overcoming sin.

  1. Have the ability to PRAY through God’s Word. The more we mediate on the Word, the better we become in using God’s Word. Just as God’s Word never passes away, our prayers never pass away when we pray God’s word.

  1. Experience the PROSPERITY of renewed life. A healthy tree produces fruit not primarily for its own benefit, but for the benefit of others. God’s Word prospers us through the way our life prospers others.

Meditate on how God is calling you to start experiencing the benefits of God’s Word.  Where are you lacking the benefits of God’s Word in your life?  Choose one point above and commit this to the Lord.  You are called to know the full benefits of keeping God’s Word!
