This is a flawless demonstration of Paul’s earlier mission statement in Acts 20:20. Picture this scene in your minds: To protect Paul from the crowds, the soldiers literally pick him up off the ground and carry him up the long stairway from the temple area to the Roman military fort called the Fortress of Antonia. At the top of the staircase, Paul turns around to address the mad crowd; From that high point in Jerusalem, there is no doubt that his view included all of the city with the mountains rolling behind.
And there, He did not “hesitate” to share his story, his testimony. Consider
1) how Paul shared specific elements to relate to his audience, the Jews (Acts 22:2, 3, 12, 17);
2) how he included honest accounts of the evil in his past (Acts 22:4);
3) how he detailed his personal encounter with Jesus Christ (Acts 22:7-10); and
4) how he explained God’s continual, everyday guidance and direction in his life (Acts 22:17-21).
When was the last time you shared your story with someone? When was the last time you told someone enough of your story that they knew your encounter with Jesus was real and undeniable?
The Holy Spirit empowers us to walk boldly and without hesitation WHEN sharing our story- but He can also guide us in WHAT we must share. Using the four elements outlined above, ask the Holy Spirit to help you recount your testimony. Be ready, without hesitation, to share that story today.
