Paul’s Advice
In this passage we see the Apostle Paul give some last advice to the church in Ephesus. Paul was the spiritual “father” to the church in Ephesus and this would be one of his last “live” sermons to his church. First, Paul begins his speech by sharing the “message” he gives to the world in verse 21, “repenting from sin and turning to God, and having faith in Jesus”. Paul’s main message in life was simple but complex. I believe the world around us is still in need of this simple message.
Secondly, Paul tells us his life motivation. Verse 24 says “my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned to me by Christ Jesus”. Paul is giving us an evaluation scale on life, success in life= finishing the work of Jesus assigned to us. We need to always remind ourselves that WE ARE NOT FINSHED. Lastly, Paul gives instructions to “guard themselves and God’s people. This is a reminding to we are to keep our guard up by keeping Jesus the center of everyday life. In summary, we are to share a simple message, finish our assignments, and keep guard.
