In this reading, we find Paul devoting himself exclusively to preaching and testifying to Jews that Jesus was the Messiah and the struggles he faced preaching the Good News. Verse 6 says, “But when they opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads!” I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” Here we find Paul struggling with fear and doubt. Verse 9 says, “One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. Verse 10, “For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”
Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit as a gift for us that believe. The Holy Spirit is our helper here on earth. If we’re to go on any assignment for the Lord, He is always here to help us. These stories are promises from God that you can count on him. If we’re feeling afraid, we can count on the promises of God and his word.
