Beginnings, exhilarating and frightening all at the same time…particularly the outset of a new journey.
I remember when my parents dropped me off at Penn State for my freshman year of college. Being on my own was a tantalizing thought. After all, I was well prepared with books, class schedules and quickest routes possible to navigate between classes. I was ready – WRONG! Let’s just say I made some lousy decisions. Why? Because I didn’t know who I was in Christ. At that point in my life, I wasn’t walking with God. I knew of Him but wasn’t about to give up control to someone “out there” when I just got control for myself. I was walking in darkness.
I wish I knew then the promise of God found in 1 Peter 2:9 which, in part, tells us we are part of a chosen race, God’s own possession and that He called us out of darkness into the light.
- Chosen – this means you are Accepted by God (the creator of the universe)
- God’s Own Possession – God finds YOU valuable
- Called from darkness to light – God has entrusted a portion of His work to us
We’re not meant to blend in with society following the status quo. We have been “Called Out” to share the marvelous works of God that are available to all who accept Him.
