1 Peter 2:1-25 ESV
So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
At one time or another, we were all new believers. Whether that is now, months ago, or years ago. We have all been or are at that point in our walk with Christ where we are just beginning. In the beginning, the journey starts like a newborn baby. You desire the sincere milk of the Word of God. Just like a mom of a newborn baby, God doesn’t expect us to stay there. As a child, we go through stages of growth, just like our spiritual growth. In the natural, you scoot, crawl, and then walk. As a baby, you desire milk, but as you grow, you begin to desire solid foods because the milk isn’t enough. That is how our spiritual growth should be. We develop a desire for God and His Word but, then that isn’t enough. You desire to go deeper and have knowledge of the Word of God, your relationship with God begins to become more intimate, and you begin to take steps of going deeper in your relationship with Him. It takes us laying aside television, and other things that stand in the way of your spiritual growth.
In order to truly grow with God, we must do exactly as the scripture tells us. We have to choose to put away ALL the things in our lives that are not of Him. We must surrender our lives to Him in order to grow in our walks. We must spend time in prayer and in our Word, so that we can come to know Him more. As you pray, ask Him to reveal to you the things that you need to lay aside, so that you can grow.
