Acts 1:1-5

The book of Acts is a continuation of the Gospel of Luke. Luke’s gospel detailed the life of Jesus, his death, his resurrection, and his ascension. Before Jesus ascended into heaven he told the church leaders that he will give them “power from on high” (Luke 24:49); that power is the Holy Spirit. Jesus knew that it would be impossible for The Church to move forward without the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that will empower followers of Jesus to be a “witness” to a dark world.
The book of Acts starts where we all should start: The Holy Spirit. Apart from the spirit of God filling us, we are not able to live the way God wants us to. In Acts 1:4 it says “wait for the promise of the father (Holy Spirit)”. Jesus told the church leaders to wait, and NOT leave Jerusalem until they receive the Holy Spirit. How many of us have not “waited” and are living life without being filled with the Holy Spirit?

Take time today and began asking God to fill you with the Holy Spirit.
