Psalm 103:17-18 NLT

But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments!

David reminds us God is a compassionate Father. Just as a loving dad looks for ways to hold back his frustrations with his kids, looking for ways to show his compassion to his children, that is how God looks at us. David takes it even further though, building on the promises God gave to Moses, that God’s blessings is like a heritage that can be passed from generation to generation. This great news should stir in us a prayer of thanksgiving. In prayer, we root ourselves by the living water of God’s promise, not just for us but our children.
