Are there mission minded people anymore? How after more than 2000 years can there still be people on this earth that have not heard about the good news of Jesus Christ? The answer to these questions lies in the hearts of those adhering to the Great Commission. For many of us, we are not in some strange or foreign land, we are not struggling on one meal a day and we have total access to tons of resources. This does not mean we can just sit back and let others do the work of mission’s. We must step up out of our comfort zones wherever we are located and seek more workers for the Lord! The best examples for this type of missions work comes from Jesus.

Here are six of them:

1) Jesus used a specific model.

In other words, Jesus did what he wanted others to do. He provided the example for all of us on how we are to seek others. He provides us the mentorship model for relationships.

2) Jesus had a specific motivation. Jesus was here on a mission and always displayed a strong sense of passion, love and care. He saw the Jews as sheep’s without a shepherd. He shows the type of motivation that we should be striving for each and everyday, not just on Sunday.

3) Jesus gave a specific model.

In short, it’s time to pack up and go! Jesus was a worker and he labored tirelessly to get the good news out to everyone. It is most important to remember that there are no specific laborers, because WE are all the laborers! We are all called to gather laborers for the harvest!

4) Jesus chose and commissioned specific men.

Jesus established the standard of discipleship with the original disciples. His relationships with them showed us the many struggles they went through, but also the faith needed to maintain the missions walk. Now, we are the disciples and it is our job to work together for the harvest. When we all work together, revival is born!

5) Jesus targeted specific masses. Jesus targeted the lost sheep of Israel first, and then went on to all the nations. Through this we learned that we must pray for people by name! It is not enough for us to just pray for the nations, we must call out their individual names.

6) Jesus ordered specific manifestations after giving them a Mantle of Authority!

Jesus was able to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons and more. He showed superiority over them, and likewise, we can do the same thing now. We can establish authority over evil things with the power of Christ!
Let’s make every effort to collect for the harvest!

Let us labor so that we can find, train and raise up more laborers for Christ!
