Philippians 4:6 & 7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with

thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends

all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

This was the very first scripture I ever memorized. God lead me to it one night after I had been attending Cornerstone for a few months. You see – I’m a “reformed” worrier. I didn’t grow up in a home where I was taught about Jesus. I was taught the only person to rely on was myself. This couldn’t be further from the Truth.

As God revealed the scripture to me, I came to realize how important it is to surrender everything in prayer to the One who has always been in control. The more I lean on Jesus in prayer, the more peace I receive. Here’s a few insights:

v  Do not be anxious – Granted this is no easy task since the world will tell you it’s all about you so you’d better wake up and make things happen. But we know Jesus is the real “mover and shaker”. Don’t be afraid to pray bold prayers.

v  Gives us a promise: Peace – When we pray, God promises that His Peace will guard our hearts and minds. We need this protection as we are bombarded daily with lies from the enemy.

Be persistent in your prayers and watch what God does.
