Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.” As you read verses, 3 – 13, you will find all the blessings that you will receive for your obedience. The remainder of the chapter speaks of the curses for disobedience. This chapter can be very intimidating because one would think that you have to obey every single command, and be a perfect person in order to receive the blessings that are stated in verses 3-13.

God knows that none of us are perfect people.  It’s been repeated in our devotionals that God is the only perfect person.  This means we will make mistakes in following His commands. When Jesus died on the cross for you and me, He paid the price for our sin.  Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the inside, our heart.  If our heart’s desire is to keep His commands, I believe His blessings will accompany us today.  When we disobey and continue to walk in disobedience we have to face the consequences for our wrong.  Our desire should be to walk in complete obedience each and every day.  His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
