“Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how He did it. Because He never lost sight of where He was headed – that exhilarating finish in and with God – He could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now He’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.” Hebrews 12:1

Pastor Shawn’s sermon began with a simple question: Where Are You Going? We often choose directions that look appealing at the outset, but get a few miles in and we’re at a dead end. Decisions and direction based on what we can accomplish and feel confident in: our education, our focus/drive or worse yet – our best intentions. There’s only one problem: we CANNOT find the right path without Jesus.

Before we can choose the right path, let’s confront the truth about the paths we are choosing.

  1. Life isn’t a series of disconnected decisions. It’s a set of connected steps in a certain direction.

Life is not random. Each step we take, forward or backward, is connected to the step before it each time moving us in a chosen direction. Life isn’t about where I intend on going but where I am actually headed.

  1. You are NOT the EXCEPTION to the path you are on.

Yes – it can happen to me!

  1. When you find yourself lost or in a bad place, you need more than a fix or forgiveness.

You will need:

  • A New Leader (try Jesus)
  • A New Direction (found in the Word of God)
  • A New Grace (Grace abounds greater than sin)
  • And LOTS of Time (God will make a path where it appears there is none – trust Him)

Now ask yourself – What Path Am I On?
